March 17, 2020, Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Mar 17, 2020

To our customers,

As I mentioned in the previous notice, we will make our decisions with the health and well-being of our members, customers, staff, and community as our highest priority. Massage therapists at Oasis Massage Sanctuary belong to professional massage associations. Today the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) published a recommendation to only conduct medically necessary massages in order to help reduce the potential spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Today I announce another step to further participate in this effort. Effective March 18, 2020, Oasis Massage Sanctuary will only schedule and conduct medically necessary massages through March 31, 2020.

Many of you already have massages scheduled this month. Please evaluate your need to come in, and re-schedule for April if you are able. Being in pain, or overwhelmed with stress falls under the “necessary” category. Stress can cause multiple underlying problems, our goal is to assist in keeping you as healthy as possible.

Online appointments remain open for customers to receive “necessary” treatment while continuing the process below:

  • Hand sanitizer available at the front counter for our customers
  • Hand sanitizer available for therapists in staff rooms
  • Therapists are required to hand washing after each session past the elbows for at least 20 seconds after each massage session
  • Increasing the frequency and rigor of cleaning and sanitization of all door handles, customer contact countertops, therapist and customer used chairs, staff computers, and equipment after EACH massage customer
  • Washing and/or sanitizing hands after handling money
  • Staff who appear symptomatic have been asked to stay home
  • We have shared specific instructions with our staff on the importance of washing their hands and staying home if they feel sick or are returning from an area of the world identified as posing a coronavirus-related risk
  • Per CDC recommendations, staff that have traveled to restricted locations or that have been exposed to others who have traveled to such locations will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days

Symptoms can pop up when we least expect it; therefore, we are shortening our appointment cancellation window without penalty.

  • For appointments scheduled between March 16, 2020, through April 15, 2020, cancellation fees are waived
  • Additionally, you can now cancel/reschedule appointments up to two hours before your scheduled massage, and in some cases, up to an hour before (with prior communication) if you are experiencing illness symptoms

To our valued members, there is no need to notify us in advance if you don’t have a medical need to redeem your free massage benefit this month. Ther April calendar is available online, simply book two sessions, and we will manually adjust your member account so you can redeem your March benefit in April 2020.

  • If you have massages booked for March and can delay treatment, please log into your member account and cancel your March appointment, and re-schedule for April. You can also send us an email at [email protected] if you need assistance with March cancellations.

We continue to closely follow Federal, State and Local health guidance on steps we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus. As new guidance is provided, I will communicate how it will impact our sanctuary’s ability to provide therapeutic massage. Until then, I ask you to be kind to one another, stay safe, and do your part to help end this pandemic.

Advice on staying healthy:

  • Practice good hygiene. Wash your hands frequently
  • Cover your nose and mouth if you have to sneeze or cough
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow. If you use a tissue, wash your hands afterward, and avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid handshakes
  • If you are sick and/or have any combination of fever, body aches, nausea, fatigue, chills, and sweats, please take care of yourself, protect others by staying home, and contact your medical provider
  • If you recently recovered from an illness, please allow at least 7 days from the last date of symptoms before receiving your massage
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
